my Jesus,
i believe that you are present
in the most holy sacrament.
i love you above all things,
and i desire to receive you into my soul.
since i cannot at this moment
receive you sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
i embrace you as if you were already there
and unite myself wholly to you.
never permit me to be separated from you.

🍞 what it is
spiritual communion is a prayer of desire for union with Jesus in the eucharist when i cannot receive communion sacramentally.
it is not a replacement for receiving the eucharist when i am able.
it is a way to turn toward Christ with love, longing, and trust.
🧭 when i might use this
- when i am at mass but cannot receive communion
- when i am watching mass from home
- when i am sick
- when i am spiritually returning
- when i am preparing for confession
- when i miss the eucharist
- when i need to remember that God is still near
🧠 note to self
not being able to receive communion does not mean i am rejected.
i can still pray.
i can still desire God.
i can still attend mass.
i can still return.
